If you have ACNE or experience breakouts often you might experience common skin issues like clogged pores, inflammation, more blackheads than usual, a lot of pimples, buildup of dead skin, uneven skin texture, dry flaky patches of skin, excess oiliness, redness, or areas that feel very sensitive.

Here’s 3 Quick Tips on how to get rid of acne at home:

1. Revisit your current diet. Look at what you’re eating on a regular basis and commit to making changes where needed. Too much sugar? Too much Sodium? Too much Dairy? Too much Junk Food? You don’t have to cut it out completely, but moderation is key!

2. Detox! Try out a new detox. That might look like juicing or drinking a detox tea or cutting out meat and dairy for a certain amount of time, or just setting a goal to drink more water. For example, committing to drinking a specific number of ounces of water a day (using one of those jugs that tracks your water intake). Detoxing flushes out toxins and helps clear up acne and breakouts.

3. Take inventory of your current products. Look at what you’re using at home and make sure it includes the right ingredients for your skin type and for your type of acne. Ex: oily skin with acne will benefit from using salicylic acid, tea tree, and charcoal-based products. They absorb oil and can help kill surface bacteria found in acne. Dry skin can use lactic acid, jojoba oil, and vitamin c. They nourish dry flaky skin with acne and breakouts and can help calm any redness and soothe irritated areas of the face.

*Bonus: And most importantly be patient with yourself! Getting rid of acne is a process and takes time and commitment. You got this! Happy June and Happy Acne Awareness Month!
